My name is Evin Yulo (Yujiri is a screenname I invented for gaming). You can also call me Evelyn instead of Evin.

Gender and pronouns

I'm cassgender, which means I don't have a gender, but I also don't positively *not* have one, so you can call me a boy, a girl, or whatever, if you like, and use any pronouns for me. I even like some variance :)

The best explanation of my gender is the `undefined` keyword in the Zig programming language :) This is not `null` (which would correspond to an enby who positively has no gender), rather `undefined` literally means undefined memory, so the value could be anything, might not be consistent between reads, and using it would be a bug :)

Origin of names

The name Evin came from something I did when I was 16. I sent a letter to evangelize my homebrew "religion", and I trespassed at night to send it, so I signed it "the shadow evangelist". It took much courage to overcome my fear of communicating with strangers and of trespassing, so when I finally did, I decided I should have a name that represents who I was becoming, not the one chosen by people who didn't know me. So I took Evan Shad out of the signature, and that was the first version of my name. I changed the spelling to Evin after I got into language design because that vowel is pronounced like the one in "it", and I cared more about loyalty to my conlang's philosophy of logical spelling than I did about loyalty to my past.

As for Shad, I never really liked its sound, so I eventually started trying to think of a replacement without particular prompt. I decided to name myself after sunset, because its beauty affected me greatly during my early childhood, and Yulo meant sunset in my conlang.

As for Evelyn, as a non-binary person with a masculine name, eventually I was like hey, it's cool that there happens to be a feminine version of my name, I should use it for a while as a tribute to it, so I did. It's not my "canonical" name, but you can still call me either.
