Anarchism

written 2025-04-03

I'm gonna be brief here, because I've believed what I believe for so long that it's common sense to me. I'm an anarchist. I think all governments are fundamentally illegitimate and evil, even democratic ones. I think we have no obligation to follow their laws, and *as a direct corollary*, those who force us to follow the laws - the police - are evil, criminals in the ethical sense, and we have a right to defend ourselves against them with as much force as necessary.

Most people who argue against anarchism don't even bother to argue for the legitimacy of the state's authority, because it's too obviously illegitimate. Instead, they focus on consequences, claiming that if we didn't have a government, we'd have something worse. But those claims are baseless. People only say it because they're afraid of anarchism being right, because that would require them to change their worldview, to see as bad what they now see as good, and that's uncomfortable.

I used to have a page here refuting many statist arguments, but I've decided not to have it anymore, because those arguments aren't worth entertaining, and I no longer associate with anyone who makes them. I no longer have a sense of who I'd be writing them for. Thus, this page is now just a thesis. I might re-add some detailed arguments only if I feel there is someone worth writing them for.
