Solution

I found this solution on the wiki, posted by Toothless.

When holding Rhinos, always hold the 1 stamina ones so you can have more damage at once.

The reason for not buying the last Engineers is that if it continued past turn 30, you could live longer by buying 1 Engineer per turn when all you have left is Animus, so that the enemy would have an odd number of damage after breaching, effectively letting you absorb 1. This build in theory lives till turn 37.

It's actually possible to clear this challenge without buying Ossified Drone at all (but only barely!)
